Disconnecting QuickBooks
How to revoke BACK-BONE's access to your QuickBooks Online company.
You can disconnect at any time, from either side, and you do not need our permission or our help. Both routes do the same thing — they revoke the authorisation at Intuit — and both take effect immediately.
From BACK-BONE
- Sign in to the BACK-BONE console.
- Open Settings and find the Accounting panel.
- Choose Disconnect, and confirm.
This revokes our access at Intuit and then destroys our copy of the credential. It does not merely stop us using it. You need to be an admin of the business.
From QuickBooks
You can also end it from your own side, without touching BACK-BONE at all. Sign in to QuickBooks Online and remove BACK-BONE from the apps connected to your company — Intuit documents where that lives, and moves it occasionally, so their own guide is the reliable place to look: how to disconnect an app in QuickBooks Online.
One thing worth knowing: Intuit does not notify us when you do this. Your BACK-BONE settings screen will go on saying Connected until the next time it tries to use the connection, at which point it will notice and ask you to reconnect. Nothing is reaching your books in the meantime — the access is genuinely gone the moment you revoke it.
If you would rather we did it for you, write to us at the address below and we will revoke our access at our end.
What happens when you disconnect
- BACK-BONE immediately loses all access to your QuickBooks company. The credential Intuit issued stops working, and we destroy our copy of it.
- No further invoices, estimates or customers are sent to QuickBooks, and we stop receiving notifications about changes in it.
- Nothing in QuickBooks is deleted or altered. Invoices we created stay exactly where they are — they are your records.
- Your BACK-BONE jobs, customers and history are untouched. Any automation whose step needed QuickBooks simply stops performing that step, and says so.
If you want your data removed as well
Disconnecting stops the connection; it does not close your BACK-BONE account. To have your BACK-BONE data exported or deleted, see the Privacy Policy or write to us.
